Spring, cable, and track repair on heavier Ramona doors
Springs do the lifting in a correctly balanced garage door system. The opener controls movement, but it should not have to drag the full door weight. When a spring weakens or breaks, a larger wood or workshop door can become extremely heavy. Continuing to run the opener may damage its drive components, pull hardware from the door, or leave the door uneven as cable tension changes from side to side.
Our spring inspection starts with the door configuration and measured condition. We identify the spring type, inspect the shaft and bearing plates, look for cable wear at the drums and bottom fixtures, and check whether the door stays level. For torsion spring replacement, the replacement must match the door rather than merely resemble the old spring. An earlier installation may already be wrong, especially when panels, reinforcement, or windows have changed the door's weight.
An off-track door gets stabilized before parts are moved. A roller may have left the track because a cable went slack, the door struck an object, a track bracket shifted, or the door became badly unbalanced. Forcing it with the opener can bend the track and damage more panels. We determine the cause, reset or replace affected parts, align the tracks, restore cable tension, and test the full travel before reconnecting normal operation.
